The bagel

Bagel making at Goldie’s is a two day process. On day one we mix together our ingredients, including Simone our sourdough starter. We shape the bagels and let them proof overnight to develop flavor. On day two they get boiled with malt syrup, rolled in seeds and baked. We whip all our cream cheese in house and give the bagels a nice heavy schmear :)

The bakery

In addition to bagels, our pastry chef Jill Rostine bakes an assortment of old school and creative pastries every morning. We are proud to offer rugelach, muffins, babka buns, tahini chocolate chip cookies, as well as seasonal and Jewish holiday specials.

The deli

Our sandwiches are inspired by Jewish appetizing and deli traditions with fresh and modern twists. Try a yenta or egg and cheese for breakfast, a bagel sandwich with chips and a pickle for lunch or a Bud’s pastrami on rye on Tuesdays. Stay tuned to our instagram and Menu page to see our current offerings & specials.

Made by moms for your mornings, meetings, and mazel tovs!

My name is Amanda Rainey, and I am the owner of Goldie’s. I’m a 3rd generation St. Louis Jew, but I came to Mizzou in 2003 and I have since became a COMO townie. My husband John and I own Pizza Tree and we have two young daughters named Rosie & Micah. We’re members of Congregation Beth Shalom where I taught religious school and tutored Bar/Bat Mitzvah students for many years. While everyone else was home baking sourdough, I started baking bagels in 2020, and Goldie’s was born as a pandemic pop up at Pizza Tree that August. Over the next year of high and lows, we showed up and made bagels. I quickly learned how much Jewish comfort food means to all kinds of people, from a Sunday morning tradition to a Bat-Mitzvah brunch centerpiece. As we have moved into our own location on 9th Street, I’m proud to build a business that fits into my life as a mom, that provides good food to good people, and that adds to the cultural vibrancy of Columbia.

Spread the love

Bagels are Jewish people’s love language.

When I think about my life in bagels, I think about the spread of bagels and cream cheese and lox and egg salad at my Bat-Mitzvah brunch. I think about the 6 packs of bagels that every one of my family members has in their freezer. I think about starting Bagel Tuesdays at Mizzou Hillel and inviting students to connect with their Jewish community over bagels each week. From the bottom of my Jewish mother heart, I hope you enjoy our bagels. Also don't forget to put a 6 pack in your freezer, or better yet drop one off for someone you love!
